Martin Heidegger’s 1934-1935 lectures on Friedrich Hölderlin’s hymns “Germania” and “The Rhine” are considered the most significant among Heidegger’s lectures on Hölderlin. William McNeill is Professor of Philosophy at DePaul University.
Julia A. Ireland is an Assistant Professor at Whitman College. She has translated (with William McNeill) Hölderlin’s Hymn “The Ister” (IUP, 1996).
